Students, staff and members of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District Business Department recently worked together with the Plainview-Old Bethpage school community to raise $9,000 to support cancer research.

Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School seniors Haley Eisenstein, Lena Hemmerdinger, and Emily Ralton, along with business teacher and DECA advisor Lindsay DeLucca spearheaded the effort by hosting a Coaches vs Cancer football game to raise funds for Stacy’s Warriors. Stacy’s Warriors is a local nonprofit founded by former District employee and cheerleading coach Stacy Brennan during her fight against breast cancer. Over the years, POB’s DECA club has held a close relationship with Stacy’s Warriors, and has launched multiple successful fundraisers to support the organization’s battle against cancer.

“The purpose of Stacy's Warriors is to raise awareness and funds to fight cancer,” said Ms. DeLucca. “On a personal note, Stacy is one of the most passionate, energetic, and kindest people I know. She does not let cancer get her down. Due to the dedication and hard work of this year's project managers, we raised an incredible $9,000, which will be donated to the American Cancer Society on behalf of Stacy's Warriors.”
