About The Ron Darling Foundation http://www.rondarlingfoundation.org/
Ron Darling admits that he did not know much about Diabetes prior to his son’s diagnosis. He will never forget that fateful day when Jordan, now 20, was diagnosed with the disease, “I got the call,” he recollects. “I was on the other coast, and Jordan’s mother brought him to the hospital. It was a shock to all of us, and it was especially scary for Jordan, who was 11 at the time. “When your child is sick, you try to educate yourself with the latest research on the disease,” Darling affirmed. This is what led Darling to the Diabetes Research Institute. He visited the DRI’s headquarters in Miami, FL to learn firsthand facilities, Darling promptly joined the National Board of Directors for the Institute. “I wanted to align myself with an organization where I thought people were doing great work, and I was looking for a place that was focused on finding a cure,” stated Darling. Darling describes the research that is conducted at the Diabetes Research Institute as “brilliant,” and says he soon became “obsessed” with making sure the DRI scientists have both the access and funding necessary to complete their work. In order to provide the scientists with these crucial resources in hopes of one day finding a cure for Diabetes, Darling created his own foundation in 2009. The Ron Darling Foundation has successfully raised ten thousands of dollars to support the DRI’s research through donations, silent and live auctions and large scale events.
