
Plainview, N.Y.-Brandon Sackstein, sophomore student at Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School (POBJFKHS), has been honored for his exemplary volunteer service with the President’s Volunteer Service Award.
Brandon was nominated for the award by the POBJFKHS administration last fall. The award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country, was granted by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards Program.
Brandon has volunteered with Plainview Buddies (formerly known as PAL Program), Relay for Life, National Conference of Synagogue Youth (NCSY), a program of the Orthodox Union, FIRST Robotics Program (volunteering at the middle school) and has volunteered for County Legislator of District 18, Joshua Lafazan.

In its 25th year, The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, sponsored by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), recognizes middle level and high school students across America for outstanding volunteer service. Volunteer activities were judged on criteria including initiative, effort, impact and personal growth.
