Water System Making Improvements

The Plainview Water District has undertaken several renovation projects in an ongoing effort to improve its facilities.

While some have been completed, others remain on their upcoming schedule.

Overseeing the various projects are Plainview Water District Board of Commissioners Edward Shulroff, Andrew Bader and Joel Kessler.

The projects are designed to meet the latest demands involving Plainview’s water supply system, the commissioners said. “The rehabilitation of the various plants throughout the District is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the productivity at all of our sites,” said Shulroff, the commission's chairman.

Two large projects are expected to be completed sometime next year. The largest is the on-going project of rehabilitating Plant No. 5, which requires electrical upgrades and the refurbishing of mechanical systems.

That plant which yields about 30 percent of the district’s water demand, is responsible for a high volume of production. The operation already underway is expected to be completed by the summer.

Another rehabilitation project is the k located on Plant No. 2, which requires improvements of the interior and exterior coating system.  The welding and containment setup are complete and the project is currently in the coating stage. 

The tank at the plant, which is located at Donna Drive, is anticipated to be completed in the spring.
