TOBAY Beach Dune Planting Set for Saturday
This rain-or-shine event is fun and helps protect the dunes that protect the beach.
Hundreds of volunteers are expected to turn out for the 's 23rd annual this Saturday.
Town officials, workers and community volunteers will meet at the Tobay Beach Ocean Pavilion at 10 a.m. Saturday for the annual planting of dune grass along the town's ocean-front beach.
Last year, turned out to carefully plant plugs of dune grass…230,000 last year alone, town officials said.

Volunteers can also sample some of the best clam chowder in town, along with coffee, hot chocolate and donuts. All of it is donated by local companies.
The rain-or-shine event needs volunteers. The beach is located off Ocean Parkway, just east of Jones Beach.

Ocean Parkway is easily accessible from the Wantagh Parkway. Follow the traffic circle around the Jones Beach water tower.
