(timesunion.com) — Work by longtime SUNY Plattsburgh geologist David Franzi is reshaping how scientists describe the massive lakes that once covered the North Country as glaciers retreated. Using high-resolution lidar data, Franzi and colleagues mapped thousands of ancient beaches and proposed new Indigenous-inspired names that could unify research across New York, Vermont, Quebec, and Ontario.
