You are financially successful but you have come to the realization you can be better, you can improve your life or your feel that something is missing. You feel a personal or executive coach will help you reach new levels of success. But what type of coach should I seek/ What qualities should they have? How do I know which one is right for me?

These are all good questions that must be answered. Like finding the right realtor or the right financial advisor there are many choices out there. Which one is right for you?

Through many years of experience, both from being coached and being the coach, I learned, often the hard way, what qualities an ELITE coach should have and what an Executive should seek out in a coach.

  1. They must LOVE what they do – how could they inspire you if they are not inspired themselves

  • They must care about you. Believe me, like in all industries; there are coaches who just go through the motions and treat you like a number. Or worse they do it just for the money

  • They must have a vested interest in your success - The real ELITE coaches are not afraid to guarantee results and then deliver

  • They must determine your biggest problems, concerns and frustrations and together with you create an action plan to overcome those problems, concerns and frustrations

  • They must clearly define expectations of their coaching and what results you should expect

  • They must be a chameleon – They must be able to adapt to your industry, to your personality. Not the other way around

  • They must hold you accountable for achieving the results you expect and deserve. This means giving you homework and assignments.

  • They must have a keen insight into who you are and what you really need and when you really need it. This includes knowing when to push you and when to give you encouragement.

  • They must be flexible – Executives, owners and entrepreneurs have busy lives. There are times when things happen. A coach must be flexible to work around schedules BUT also make sure their clients are fully committed

  • They must deliver those results. (The truly ELITE coaches will Exceed your expectations)

  • Choosing a coach is a personal decision and is a personal preference. Do your research, ask around speak to other executives they have coached. A real pro will be more than happy to speak to you at no charge to make you feel confident and comfortable.
