20mph Under the Speed Limit Leads to Weapons, Drug Charges

MOUNT PLEASANT, NY —On March 9, 2017, New York State Police from Hawthorne arrested Joel Agostinelli-Tejeda, 24, of the Bronx, NY, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, a Misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a Violation.

Troopers stopped a Toyota Highlander operated by Agostinelli-Tejeda on the Sprain Brook Parkway for driving 35 MPH in a 55 MPH zone in the left lane.

Agostinelli-Tejeda possessed marihuana and marihuana containing PCP. A Drug Recognition Expert evaluated the defendant and confirmed that he was driving the vehicle under the influence of drugs.

Agostinelli-Tejeda was arraigned in the Town of Mount Pleasant Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail. He is due to return to the Town of Mount Pleasant Court at a later date and time.
