43 Inducted into BHS Math Honor Society

Forty-three students were inducted into the Briarcliff High School chapter of the New York State Mathematics Honor Society this December.

Sponsored by the Association of Mathematics Teachers of New York State, the NYS Math Honor Society welcomes members who meet criteria based on mathematical scholarship, service, character, and citizenship. Inductees must successfully complete a minimum of three semesters of high school/college mathematics, obtain an academic average of 85% or better in every math course and maintain a cumulative academic average of 85% covering all subject areas. Every BHS inductee will receive a pin and certificate.

“At our chapter meetings, we provide members the opportunity to enjoy math outside the classroom, sometimes through hands-on fun exercises such as math puzzles,” said BHS Math Honor Society advisor Rosemarie Huber. “We encourage mathematical service by having the members volunteer to tutor in our High School Math lab and members have the opportunity to hear about math related careers from various professionals.”
