April (& May) Showers Bring May Flowers
Pleasantville Farmers Market is open Saturday, 8:30am - 1:00pm

The saying "April showers bring May flowers" was probably developed for morale during April, before May's more visible changes arrive. Showers of course haven't concluded their time with us, and happily so, as our region is a grower's comfort zone due to ample rainfall. We are seeing the progression to May flowers in the region now. Simply Planted has begonias for sale, which are cold tolerant and ready for your deck. Indoors Neversink Farm cultivated self-pollinating squash which have produced blossoms to be brought to the Market as a rare treat. The Pleasantville Garden Club visits Saturday with information on their Rose Project, and their upcoming May 13 Annual Plant Sale (held alongside the Market in Memorial Plaza). Taken as a whole, with the warm and the cold, the wet and the dry, spring is being spring, and the Pleasantville Farmers Market is here to bring the season's early bounty to you, each week.

Phelps Health Tip:
Eat More Whole Plant Foods
Lead Sponsor Phelps Hospital Northwell Health shares the following: "The benefits of antioxidants show up everywhere, but the synergy that occurs between the vitamins, minerals, fiber, phytochemicals, and antioxidants when we eat whole foods may reduce the risk of some serious chronic conditions and cancers. Eat more whole plant foods and do it frequently!"
