...our Mayor, Board of Trustees and I all wish to add our special thanks for the perseverance and dogged determination of Det. Sgt. Matt Doherty and Det. Fred Galbraith to see this through. The coordinated efforts of many people took extreme amounts of time and expertise at addressing the problems which come with such a difficult case. All along the way Chief Gorey and Lt Bueti and each member of the PD supported their work helping in one-way shape or form. Getting to this point is what some still call “old fashioned police work” at its best: all very true. Understand that for the Detective Bureau and department, this investigation was never viewed or treated as a cold case or a case that would be forgotten or neglected.~ For that we are all thankful. Lastly, we thank all the services of our dedicated first responders whether from VBM or by mutual aid, various police and investigative agencies~together with Village staff and departments during and after the fire.~ Our residents responded with their support in the rebuilding of our pavilion … and for all of you, we are thankful.
