Assemblyman Abinanti Appointed Chairman of Committee on Libraries and Education Technology

Assemblyman Tom Abinanti (D-Greenburgh/Mt. Pleasant) has been appointed to be Chairman of the Assembly Committee on Libraries and Education Technology.

Abinanti was named to the post by Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie. The Committee has jurisdiction over legislation introduced concerning the many issues affecting public, academic, school and private libraries.

“Libraries are critical to our communities in so many ways,” said Abinanti in a statement. “Not only do they serve as a place for learning, they are the center of our communities – a place for children and adults to meet, a place for those without internet to find it and even serving as a place of refuge in an emergency.”

“I thank the Speaker for showing confidence in me and recognizing my long experience in government by giving me this chairmanship in my third term,” Abinanti added.
