August at the Market: the peak of summer!

Pleasantville Farmers Market is open Saturday, 8:30am – 1:00pm

We're at the peak of summer! Gajeski Produce, Mead Orchards and Morgiewicz Produce have fresh corn. Wright's Farm and Mead Orchards have berries and just picked stone fruits. Little Seed Gardens and Neversink Farm have mounds of Certified Organic produce. Summer tomatoes are everywhere. Three dairies have great cheeses. Five farms have meats for the grill. And Pura Vida Fisheries has just-caught seafood from off Montauk's shores. Use your kitchen to celebrate summer and the great work of these producers!

If that sounds like a lot of shopping and you want your visit to be brief, Pleasantville Farmers Market Online (PFM-O) is open for preorders today until 2:00pm. This platform can help you get in and out faster on Saturday, and reserve the items you want. Register and then begin shopping online by clicking here. A complete summary of PFM-O is further down this newsletter.

Want a quick way to see what items are NEW this week online? Easy! Click "What's New?" in the drop down menu under the blue "Shop By" button (on the left of the site). Or click here to get to this display of "What's New?" items. Phelps Health Tip:
Lead Sponsor Phelps Hospital Northwell Health shares the following: "Health experts note that sweet corn is loaded with lutein and zeaxanthin, two phytochemicals that promote healthy vision. Also, a midsize ear offers a helpful 3-gram dose of dietary fiber".

Wow! Free 2020 Census Shopping Bags!
Pleasantville will do anything to highlight the importance of completing the 2020 Census - like offering shoppers a reusable 2020 Census shopping bag. Get yours at the main entrance Saturday. Then, after toting home your fresh food, if you've not already done so please fill out the census. In judging levels of federal funding to help states stem tax increases, or when emergency support decisions are made such the allocation of additional ventilators, those decisions are based upon the census count. How's our Village doing? 72.7% of residents have filled out the census. If your part of the remaining 27.3% we're seeking your participation before 10/31.

PFM-O: 24 vendors!

Explore Pleasantville Farmers Market Online (PFM-O) as a way to enjoy contactless shopping, to reserve items to avoid the morning rush, and to enable your Market visit to be brief.

If you are a first time user of PFM-O please register by CLICKING HERE. Then use the same link to login and preorder from participating vendors - you can place orders today until 2:00pm (PFM-O is open each week between Tuesday, 7:00pm and Thursday, 2:00pm).

PFM-O is also a great way to further support your producers. By preordering items and skipping the line at our busiest vendors you can help reduce the length of vendors' walk up lines (to their relief!) and provide them needed revenue during a challenging year.

  • Mead Orchards
  • Morgiewicz Produce
  • Orwasher's Bakery
  • Pickle Licious

How to pick up preordered items?

  • Items ordered on PFM-O are collected at vendor’s tents.
  • All participating vendors have a sign saying “Preorder From Me Online”.
  • In front of vendors that typically lack significant lines "Walk Up Service & Preorder Pick Up" is painted on the pavement. PFM-O shoppers wait briefly with other walk up shoppers to collect their items from these vendors.
  • Vendors having dedicated, sizeable walk up lines display a “Pick Up Preorders Here” sign above a yellow "Preorder Pick Up" box painted on the pavement - at these vendors you can skip the walk up line. Step in the box, then step away quickly after receiving your preorder.
