The guest speaker at Art Salon 2018 is Carla Rae Johnson. Ms. Johnson, a NYFA fellow in sculpture and the recipient of a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant, has been making and teaching art for over 30 years. Her work has been shown nationally in museums and galleries and is included in many private collections. Rich in content and context, Ms. Johnson’s art defies standard categorization. Her installations often include drawings and sculpture made from wood, metal, plastic and clay. Unafraid to address issues of gender and race, Ms. Johnson’s art challenges her viewers to engage in deep cultural conversations with themselves and others.
