BHS Band Welcomes Curt Ebersole Ahead of Spring Concert
BHS Band Director and principal euphonium in the Westchester Symphonic Winds, Marc Tartell, Invited the Guest Conductor

Seventy musicians in the Briarcliff High School band worked with Curt Ebersole, a highly respected conductor, bandmaster and award-winning music educator, on April 13th in the first of two workshops designed to deepen students’ understanding of the repertoire that the band is playing at their spring concert on April 26th and at their NYSSMA majors festival performance on May 23rd.
During the workshop, Ebersole explored the connections between Ralph Vaughan William’s effusive and energetic March from the English Folk Song Suite and Samuel Hazo’s highly introspective treatment of the same musical theme in From Heaven to the Future. This work was dedicated to Debbie Durham, a high school band musical educator. During the rehearsal, Mr. Ebersole called Ms. Durham to discuss her insights about the music and share her ideas with the band.
BHS Band Director and principal euphonium in the Westchester Symphonic Winds, Marc Tartell invited Mr. Ebersole to Briarcliff added, "Many of our students have attended concerts of the Westchester Symphonic Winds and watched Mr. Ebersole conduct making this an especially exciting workshop!"
