BHS Literary Magazine Receives Recognitions for Excellence

Briars & Ivy is an award-winning, student-run publication, dependent on our staff members and the overall high school community to showcase the artistic and literary culture of our generation.

The 2018 editors of Briars & Ivy (Featured from left to right: Kala Herh, Oyinkasola Tukuru, Farhaanah Mohideen, and Dustin Qian) gathered to celebrate an extremely successful awards season for Briars & Ivy under the direction of alumni Sophie Underwood, Rebecca Leon, Kaveri Gowda, and Jordan Kim.

The 2017 edition of Briars & Ivy has garnered the following awards:

• National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE)'s Program to Recognize Excellence in Student Literary Magazines (PRESLM)--Recommended for Highest Award
• American Scholastic Press Association (ASPA)-- 1st Place
• Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA)-- Gold Medalist
• National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA)-- 1st Class with one mark of distinction
• Empire State Scholastic Press Association (ESSPA)--Gold Overall
