Briarcliff High School’s most talented mathematicians were honored recently at a ceremony marking their membership in the York State Mathematics Honor Society.

Students who were inducted last year, as well as those who were inducted this year’s, were excited to receive their membership certificates from club advisors Annmarie O’Brien and Rosemarie Huber.
“Last year there was no gathering due to the pandemic, so we are happy and proud to award the members their well-earned certificates this year,” Ms. O’Brien said.

The NYS Math Honor Society is an organization designed to recognize and applaud the outstanding achievements of high school students. It also provides a forum for students to enjoy mathematics outside the classroom and to create an awareness of the many math-related careers and applications of mathematics.
“We encourage mathematical service in the Math Lab as well as promote mathematical leadership,” Ms. Huber said.
