Briarcliff Duo Head to State Track and Field Championships

The indoor championships are Saturday.

Briarcliff High School indoor track athletes Ryan Gallagher and Jack Zimmerman have qualified for the New York State Indoor Track and Field Championships, school officials announced.

Zimmerman will compete in shot put after setting a new school record of 52 feet and one inch. He also will compete in the weight throw, after qualifying with a throw of 61 feet and 2.5 inches. He is currently ranked 13th in shot put and third in the weight throw in New York State.

Gallagher will compete in the 1600-meter run. He is currently ranked 11th in the state. Both athletes will compete in the state championships at Cornell University on Saturday.
