In a nod to the theme, the audience can opt in for a small donation to use the bathrooms, with the money raised going to Charity: Water, which funds projects that provide clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations, district officials said in a press release. The Briarcliff School District has a long relationship with Charity: Water, having raised more than $10,000 during the last six years.

“We chose Urinetown because its clever wit and humor match the skills, attitude, and passion of our students, as well as the company’s talent for singing and dancing,” said Director Paul Kite, an experienced actor/director who was featured in a recent Lincoln Center production of Macbeth. “And Urinetown is a parody with the kind of witty humor that’s appreciated by audience members of every age.”
