Briarcliff High School Students Honored at Film Festival Awards

Hendrick Hudson High School recently sponsored its 11th annual Film Festival with the purpose of allowing young filmmakers to showcase their films in an actual theater before a live audience. Briarcliff High School was proud to have been represented by some very talented, promising filmmakers whose works received high recognition. Juniors Ali Armino and Kristen Ma worked together to produce a documentary entitled “Our Voices, Our Future.” The pair placed second in the Documentary category. Although they are unsure about what they would like to study in the future, Kristen noted that they “would like to keep filmmaking in our lives.” Ninth-grade students Brian Danuff, Kayla Owen and 12th-grader Emily Feher also received honorable mention in the comedy category for their production “Trouble Makers.” The team produced their film in their TV/film production class with a cast including Brian, Emily faculty members Jamie Mandel and Denise Hamlin and classmate Brandon Pray. One of the biggest high school film festivals in the region, the Hendrick Hudson show receives more than 90 submissions from over 20 tri-state area schools in the categories of music, video, animation, documentary, drama, PSA and comedy.
