Briarcliff Manor Actor Peter Lillo to Appear in New Play
K-Pax opens tomorrow at the Whippoorwill Hall in Armonk.
Briarcliff Manor resident Peter Lillo will play a psychiatric patient named Ernie in K-Pax, a play opening at the Whippoorwill Hall in Armonk on June 3, 2011. K-Pax was written by Gene Brewer and is based on Brewer's novel of the same name and the 2001 movie K-Pax that starred Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges.
In the play, Ernie is helped to overcome his fear of death by a fellow patient who claims to be an extraterrestrial from the planet K-Pax.
Lillo attended Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua where he played Mushnik, the 60-year-old flower shop owner in the musical Little Shop of Horrors, during his senior year. He landed the same role in a production of the same play while earning a BA in English at SUNY Binghamton. Other cast members must have been impressed by how quickly he appeared to learn his lines.

Besides being an actor, Lillo is a playwright, director and freelance cinematographer/movie editor, and he has appeared in television commercials including one promoting the use of car seat belts.
His acting credits include a supporting role in an off-Broadway production of The Brothers Karamazov and a starring role as a mediocre Elvis impersonator in Been Too Long on Lonely Street, performed earlier this year at the Fort Hills Players, a theater in White Plains.

Lillo began writing plays while still in high school. His one-act play called The Happy Couple reached the finals of a one-act-play competition in 2009 conducted by the Aery Theatre Company at the Philipstown Depot Theatre in Garrison, NY.
He hasn't started work on his next play as yet but said, "It will be a dark comedy involving a relationship between a man and a woman."
While living in New York City, not a week went by where he didn't attend at least one play. He has lived in Briarcliff Manor for the last five years.
Whippoorwill Hall is located adjacent to The North Castle Public Library in Armonk, NY. Tickets for K-Pax are priced at $18 for adults and $14 for students and seniors. Reservations can be made by calling 914-629-1366 or purchased by credit card through the website www.armonkplayers.org.
