Briarcliff Manor School Budget Results Are In

BRIARCLIFF MANOR, NY — Briarcliff school district residents approved a 2019-20 school budget on Tuesday.

The $52.7 million proposed budget was approved by 402 yes votes to 162 no votes.

The budget is a 0.95% spending increase over the current year and it comes with a 2.69% hike in the school tax levy. That is within the state's tax cap for the district so the budget only needed to be approved by a majority vote.

By a smaller margin voters also authorized the district to spend no more than $2,987,000 on a school improvement bond for projects including resurfacing sidewalks and track, drainage changes, improve the public address system, purchasing a generator, and roof replacements. The vote was 388 - 174.

Ken Torosian won re-election with 437 votes and Michelle Woerner was elected to the seat vacated by Paul Wasserman with 458 votes.
