The new school year begins in less than a month. Here are dates you need to know.
You may be thinking about how many more days you can go to the beach, but the first day of school is just around the corner. With that in mind, here are important dates for the 2016-17 school year in the Briarcliff Manor Union Free School District.
- Labor Day (school closed): Sept. 5
- First day of school: Sept. 6
- Rosh Hashanah (school closed): Oct. 3-4
- Columbus Day (school closed): Oct. 10
- Yom Kippur (school closed): Oct. 12
- Superintendent’s Conference Day (half-day for students): Oct. 28
- Election Day, Superintendent's Conference Day (school closed): Nov. 8
- Veterans Day (school closed): Nov. 11
- Thanksgiving: Half day Nov. 23, school closed Nov. 24, 25
- Holiday recess: Dec. 26-30 (school resumes Jan. 3)
- Superintendent Conference Day( half day for students): Jan. 13
- Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday (school closed): Jan. 16
- Winter recess: Feb. 20-24
- Superintendent Conference Day (half day for students) March 10
- Spring recess: April 10-14
- Snow Make-up Day #3: April 11
- Snow Make-up Day #2: April 10
- Snow Make-up Day #1: May 26
- Memorial Day weekend (school closed): May 26-29
- High school graduation: June 16
- Last day of school: June 22
