UPDATE: Briarcliff People's Caucus Picks Candidates
With 4 nominated for 2 village trustee seats, there will be a debate Jan. 20.

The People’s Caucus of Briarcliff Manor held its Annual Nominating Meeting in the Briarcliff Middle School Theater Wednesday.
Village Trustee Mark Pohar was nominated for a third term by Frank Franchese with a second from John O’Leary; and Trustee Cesare Derose, Jr. was nominated by Cari Derose for his second term with a second from Kerry Pohar.

Village residents Meredyth Satran and Kim Izzarelli were nominated by former Mayor Peter Chatzky and each seconded the other’s nomination for two year terms as Village Trustee.
The current slate of members of the Caucus Executive Committee -- Aaron Stern, Chair; Larisa Wayne-Paulmeno, Vice Chair; Tobi Klarnet, Secretary; and Louis Linder, Treasurer -- were nominated for an additional one-year term by John O’Leary with a second by incumbent Trustee Mark L. Wilson.

In addition, Clorissa Gioscia, Member at Large has agreed to serve for an additional term.
The meeting was videotaped and will be broadcast on Cablevision, Channel 15 at 4 p.m. Saturday, at 2 p.m. Sunday, at 10 p.m. Monday, and at 11 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19.
The Caucus’ “Meet the Candidates Meeting/Debate” will be held Jan. 20 also in the Middle School Theater. It will start at 8 p.m. At this meeting candidates Pohar, Derose, Satran and Izzarelli will respond to questions from the Executive Committee and the public employing a debate format.
Since the Caucus Executive Committee slate was unopposed, a resolution will be introduced authorizing the Secretary to cast one vote for the entire slate.
The People’s Caucus of Briarcliff Manor is a nonpartisan civic organization which encourages candidates to seek local elected office. Anyone resident in the Village of Briarcliff Manor who is eligible to vote in a general election is automatically a member of the Caucus, regardless of any other political party affiliation.
Winning the caucus vote is tantamount to election. The village elections are in March.
