Briarcliff School Budget Plan Barely Higher Than Current Spending
The second proposition on the ballot asks voters to OK floating a bond for improvements and alterations to district buildings and sites.

BRIARCLIFF MANOR, NY — Voters in the Briarcliff school district will go to the polls May 21 to have their say on the budget for the 2019-20 school year. There are two fiscal propositions on the ballot.
The proposed spending package is $52,690,000, up 0.95% from the current year. The tax levy increase is 2.69% percent, just below the state's property tax cap, which is 2.70% this year.
Among the highlights: reduction in core class sizes in 7th and 8th grades and a total staff reduction of 6.4 positions.

The second proposition on the ballot asks voters to OK floating a bond for improvements and alterations to various district buildings and sites, up to $2.987 million. The plan includes for Briarcliff Middle School/High School campus generator, driveway repaving, surface layer for track; and at Todd School courtyard drainage and an automated door lock system for lockdowns.
District voters shot down a $34 million bond proposal in December.

On the ballot running for two seats on the Board of Education are incumbent Ken Torosian and Michelle Woerner. Trustee Paul Wasserman is not seeking re-election.
Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Todd Elementary School.
