Briarcliff Students Sing at American Choral Directors Association
Vocalists from Todd Elementary School and BMS performe at the ACDA conference in Pittsburgh
Last weekend, singers from Todd Elementary School and Briarcliff Middle School once again brought their talents to the annual American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) conference this year held in Pittsburgh, PA.
Students are selected by audition to participate in one of the honor choirs that perform at the conference where music professionals – mostly school music teachers, college professors, composers and choral directors – along with college music majors attend the conference.
"My students have been working since the beginning of the school year to master the extremely challenging songs in advance of the conference. We have been practicing together several times per week and even previewed our performance as part of Board of Education Appreciation Week," said Todd music teacher Wilma Messenger. "At the conference, they had the opportunity to perfect the songs under the leadership of a world-renowned choral director."
