Candidates Unopposed at People's Caucus Nominating Meeting

People Caucus candidates are almost always winners in the village's spring elections.

From the People’s Caucus

The People’s Caucus of Briarcliff Manor is a nonpartisan civic organization which encourages candidates to seek local elected office. Anyone resident in the Village of Briarcliff Manor who is eligible to vote in a general election is automatically a member of the Caucus, regardless of any other political party affiliation.

The Caucus’ Annual Nominating Meeting was held in the Briarcliff Middle School Theater at 8:00 PM January 14, 2015.

The meeting was videotaped and will be broadcast on Cablevision, Channel 15 on Saturday, January 17 at 3:30 PM, Sunday, January 18 at 1:00 PM, Monday, January 19 at 6:00 PM and Tuesday, January 20 at 11:00 PM.

The Caucus’ “Meet the Candidates Meeting” will be held Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the Middle School Theater at 8:00 PM. At this meeting candidates Sullivan, Wilson and Zirman will respond to questions from the Executive Committee and the public.

Since only one candidate for each office was nominated by members of the Caucus, there will be no need for the Special Voting Meeting that was scheduled for January 28, 2015.

Instead such nominees will be endorsed as Caucus candidates by introduction of a resolution authorizing the Secretary to cast one vote for each nominee. Following approval of such resolution, the nominees will be entitled to be listed on the People’s Caucus ballot line in the Village election to be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2015. The candidates, members of the Caucus and Executive Committee will initiate the process of collecting signatures on Village Independent Nominating Petitions in accordance with New York State Election Law to enable candidates to appear on the Caucus’ ballot line.
