Construction Worker Dies Overnight After Falling Off Of Taconic State Parkway Overpass Onto Saw Mill

HAWTHORNE, NY — A construction accident has taken the life of a road worker on a Hudson Valley highway.

The Westchester County Police Department says that several patrol officers and EMS responded to the southbound lanes of the Saw Mill River Parkway Tuesday night after receiving a report of a construction worker falling off the Taconic State Parkway overpass around 10:10 p.m.

Police say the man was in cardiac arrest and CPR was administered, but he died from his injuries.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification to family, according to authorities,

The man was in his 30s, and from New York City. He was a contractor working on a New York State DOT project.

Police say the incident remains under investigation by General Investigations Unit detectives. The parkway was closed in both directions until about 3:30 a.m.
