County Lawmakers to Vote on Pleasantville Road Repairs
New traffic islands and pavement markings are part of the plan for major repairs and resurfacing from Ossining to Pleasantville.

The Westchester County Board of Legislators will vote Sept. 8 on a $6,520,000 bond to fund repairs to Pleasantville Road, which runs through Briarcliff Manor, Mount Pleasant and Ossining.
The repairs will include milling, asphalt, resurfacing, catch basin repair, concrete curb replacement, bus bands, installation of new traffic islands and new pavement markings.
“Pleasantville Road is one of the region’s most utilized streets and is vital to the local communities it connects,” said Legislator Catherine Borgia. “I’m pleased that the necessary repairs to this road are finally going to move forward and will be able to utilize the plan set forth several years ago when this need was first identified. The ability to use the previous design will save taxpayers money and help complete the project sooner.”

Pleasantville Road is one of the county’s most traveled. Three fast facts:
- Pleasantville Road has an average annual daily traffic count of 14,068 vehicles.
- Its associated pavement condition index (PCI) in 2013 was 60 and the roadway has continued to deteriorate since then. (The PCI rating is a pavement condition rating with a range of 0 to 100, with 0 signifying that the road requires reconstruction and 100 signifying that the road is new. Based on that rating, this road requires corrective rehabilitation to extend the life of the roadway.)
- Repairs should take 18 months.
The bond is expected to pass unanimously at the Sept. 8 meeting of the Board of Legislators.
