Creating Food, Creating Meals, Creating Health
Pleasantville Farmers Market is open Saturday, 8:30am – 1:00pm

THE MARKET'S OPEN SATURDAY 4/4
Though visits are to be brief and purposeful, and from 6' away from each other, the Market offers a place for you to shop for many of the foods you need. This redeeming act of displays we're working together, directly supporting producers of the foods we eat, and tending to the health of our community.
A Reminder To Shoppers
Think of ways to help us ensure the marketplace is not too crowded. We must ensure shoppers can physically distance themselves the recommended 6' while visiting the Market. (Currently, there is a well-spaced queue to enter from 8:30am - approximately 9:45am, with few lines after that time).

- If your trip is only to collect a pre-order, arrive after 10am and you'll find the morning rush is over, the lines receded, and your items waiting for you.
- Select just one member of your family as the "designated shopper" to send to the Market.
- If arriving as a couple bring enough reusable bags so that you can split up shopping duties.
- Please do not use the Market as a social of family outing.
- The marketplace will again have only one entrance, at the south end, and a queue will be used to admit shoppers. Be prepared to wait on the sidewalk in a queue, spaced 6' from your neighbors in line.
Our vendors have pre-packed items, some have developed pre-order systems, some have brought on more staff, all to help customer service be as efficient as possible.
Absolutely avoid the Market if you are sick. Especially so if you exhibit any symptoms of the COVID-19 virus (temperature of 100° or above, a cough, a sore throat, shortness of breath).

The Market cannot guarantee that it will stay open without a gap in service during this health crisis. We post whether the Market will be open on our website's homepage every Wednesday.
The Market has implemented heightened safety protocols to protect people and food from potential transmission of germs. Our vendors have been incredible partners in this effort. We thank our shoppers for their patience as we've adjusted to meet these challenges.

Also seek foods that feed a healthy gut including onions and honey (and scallions and asparagus - soon). A healthy gut is important for the synthesis of enzymes, vitamins, and for a healthy immune system."

Edgwick Farm: SALE! & Yogurt!
Edgwick Farm's Firthciffe cheese has an ashed goat milk bloomy rind that ripens as it ages (made with the same recipe as the world famous Humbolt Fog). Edgwick has a great many Firthcliffes reaching perfection, but many less markets open to sell them, thus they're offering Firthcliffe at a 1/2 SALE this week - scoop up this fantastic cheese for $6. (It's still fairly young and can be stored for several more weeks in your refrigerator). Additionally, Edgwick has changed to packaging 1/2 pound wedges (instead 1/4 pound) of Sackett Ridge Goat Milk Cheddar. They've lowered the price to $8/pound to sell the 1/2 pound wedges for $12. All wedges are being cut and vacuum packed instead of wrapped in paper which gives a shelf life of 10 weeks or more unopened in your refrigerator. Last week, Edgwick received many requests for yogurt and they have made up a special batch just for Pleasantville. Pints are available for $6.
IN THE COMMUNITY
Pleasantville Community Blood Drive
There is a huge blood shortage going on as all community drives have been cancelled until further notice (one at the High School on April 21 has been cancelled). Donations are down by 75%. Blood is still urgently needed during the crisis. Donors can now help in a safe way and during a time that works for them by going to the Elmsford Donor Center by appointment. The Blood Center has increased the capacity at its Donor Centers by expanding their hours of operation and adding additional days. They also provide for more physical space between donors, have reduced the number of donors per hour, and take several additional sanitary measures and precautions regarding both donors and staff. In order to control donor flow, appointments must be made and walk-ins will be not accepted until further notice. For questions regarding eligibility (travel, medications, last donation, etc), call 800-688-0900. To schedule an appointment to donate at Elmsford Donor Center, 525 Executive Blvd: https://donate.nybc.org/donor/schedules/center/20
