DWI for Driver after Wrong-Way Crash on the Saw Mill

Serious injuries for the driver whom police say a Waccabuc woman hit head-on

Tess Keegan, 22, faces charges of felony vehicular assault, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and other vehicle and traffic infractions after a midnight crash on the Saw Mill Parkway.

The head-on collision sent both drivers to Westchester County Medical Center, one with serious injuries.

Westchester County police said they received two phone calls just before midnight warning of a driver headed south in the northbound side of the Saw Mill, just north of Route 120 in New Castle.

A few minutes later, a call came in of a crash just south of 120.

A 2010 Kia going south in the northbound lanes had struck a 2008 Toyota coming north, police said. Police allege that Keegan, a Waccabuc resident, was driving drunk.

She was able to get out of her car, police said. Emergency responders from Pleasantville had to extricate the other driver.

Police issued appearance tickets to Keegan at the medical center. She is due in New Castle town court Aug. 27.

The northbound side of the road was closed for more than seven hours during the accident investigation.
