All Saints' Episcopal Church is participating in the state-wide Sacred Sites Open House weekend organized by the New York Landmarks Conservancy. Docents will lead free tours of the 1854/1911 church, originally designed by renowned architect Richard Upjohn.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the church is an Early English Style Gothic Revival building and holds stained glass windows attributed to such makers as J. La Farge, Gibson of Philadelphia and Tiffany Glassworks. Many are memorials to prominent Briarcliff families. The histories of Briarcliff Manor and All Saints' are closely entwined as the church stands on the former Rev. John Ogilby estate after which the Village was named.
The New York Landmarks Conservancy's Sacred Sites program is celebrating its 25th year of assisting in the preservation of religious landmarks (www.nylandmarks.org). Over 660 religious institutions in the state have received matching grants. All Saints' 2005 grant was to help preserve its stained glass windows.
