The Burns Center will host a screening of Exporting Raymond with a Q&A with director Philip Rosenthal & New York Times critic Janet Maslin.
via the Burns Center:
When Phil Rosenthal, creator of the smash hit sitcom "Everybody Loves Raymond", goes to Moscow to adapt the show into a Russian sitcom he soon realizes how much more is required beyond mere translation. Cultural hurdles abound as we are introduced to a cast of colorful local characters, including a costume designer who refuses to abide by the show's blue collar look, the various Russian Ray Romanos, and Rosenthal's own quarrelsome parents. A real life "fish out of water" story, Exporting Raymond is a funny, warm and at times incredible look at the difficulties of translating humor across boarders.
