Kick Butts Day is a national day of activism that empowers youth to take a stand against the tobacco industry. Many colleges and universties have decided to instill no smoking policies on their campuses. The Colleges for Change program and Tobacco Free POWR are seeking to spread this movement on college campuses in Westchester County.
Two speakers will appear at this event:
- Makeda James, Coordinator, Tobacco Free POWR. He will discuss the effects of tobacco marketing in stores and the manipulative tactics used by the tobacco industry.
- Taghira Herrar, Program Director of Colleges for Change. Discussion will address how tobacco companies target college students as their newest clients and ways for students to become aware and take a stand against the industry.
