For 25 years, Dave Barry—who was born in Armonk and attended Pleasantville High School (where he was elected Class Clown)—wrote a humor column that appeared in 500 newspapers here and around the world. He has also written 30 books. Not only that, he and other writers including Stephen King play in a literary rock band. “They are not musically skilled,” Barry says, “but they are extremely loud.” Which brings to mind Spinal Tap and Dave Barry’s favorite film, the classic mockumentary tracking the heavy-metal band’s ill-fated comeback tour. It’s still one of the funniest movies ever.
