The online platform was built for this moment - to help shoppers maintain their connection to producers year-round. Preorders make it possible to shop from growers unable to safely display fruits and vegetables in winter (Gajeski Produce, Mead Orchards and Maple View Farm - our new, no-till family farm with winter-grown vegetables). And PFM-O is convenient for customers to shop ALL the foods they love at the Market (including Bread Alone Bakery which has joined).
We made refinements everywhere we could! In PFM-O no producer sets minimums shoppers must meet to gain access to items. We've reduced the pickup fee applied to your order total to $2.00 for this winter. Our new shorter winter hours of 9:00am-11:30am can lessen exposure to the cold for shoppers, producers and products.

On 11/21 shoppers used PFM-O significantly. Robyn Samra, owner of Pickle Licious, was amazed saying "If customers shop this week by using PFM-O like that I think Market vendors will find this outdoor winter market can work. Like all Pleasantville vendors, we're very dedicated to our shoppers and we'll come through for them if they place those preorders!"
So there it is. PFM-O and our producers are ready. We hope we've created a compelling case and a system that you'll find easy, quick and safe to enjoy shopping the Market all winter. This week's preorder shopping volume will be the best indicator yet as to whether the Market can deliver a 9th winter as a year-round market. Don't doubt it: every preorder counts towards making this experiment a success!
