Explore Acting Classes: Open House at HM Acting
Howard Meyer's Acting Program is hosting a free Open House on September 13.

From Pinpoint Marketing & Design: Adults and young people who want to explore acting classes close to home have a golden opportunity to get a taste of the experience when Howard Meyer's Acting Program (aka “HM Acting”) hosts a free Open House Wednesday, Sept. 13, at its home base in Pleasantville, N.Y. HM Acting is an affiliate of professional company Axial Theatre.
The fall semester for the acting school commences Monday, Sept. 18. There is no obligation for attendees of the Sept. 13 Open House to sign up for classes.
On Wednesday, Sept. 6, and Wednesday, Oct. 4, HM Acting is inviting professional and experienced non-professional actors to audition for its Master Class program.

Mr. Meyer’s credentials as an elite acting coach have been praised by the likes of celebrated, award-winning actor Kevin Spacey, who said, "Howard Meyer possesses those qualities which I admire in the best of directors: a keen, objective eye, impressive knowledge of behavior, and creative spirit. I can assure any potential student that something will indeed happen in classes with Mr. Meyer."

The Open House, which proved a popular sneak preview last year for those who became HM Acting students, introduces tweens, teens and adults to multi-level acting and classes.

Howard Meyer’s Acting Program fall classes begin Monday, Sept. 18. Beginner Adult (age 18 up) classes run for six and twelve weeks starting Wednesday, Sept. 20. Cost is $245 for 6 weeks and $395 for 12 weeks.
Teen classes (ages 13-17) start Wednesday, Sept 20, and continue for 12 weeks. Cost is $395. Classes for children (ages 10-12) also begin Sept 20. Cost is $385.
For those who have thought about acting, there’s no time like the present, says Mr. Meyer. “They could be missing a life-changing experience if they don’t give themselves a chance – and it might unleash their creative expression or even lead to a second career.”
For the Open House, 10-17-year-olds should arrive at 5:30 p.m.; those 18 and older should arrive at 7 p.m. The Open House will be held in the Community Room of St. John's Episcopal Church, 8 Sunnyside Ave., Pleasantville 10570.
Actors accepted into the Master Class after auditioning on Sept. 6 or Oct. 4 will be enrolled in HM Acting’s 8-week sessions beginning Tuesday, Sept. 19 and Tuesday, Nov. 14. this fall. The cost of each session is $465. The auditions are recommended for acting professionals, as well as pre-professionals with prior training and experience.
"HM Acting classes have enhanced my growth not only as an actor, but also as a person,” says Master Class student and Axial Theater ensemble member Michael Boyle, who by day is a high school teacher. “The sharp focus on process and the one-to-one support of each student make the program one of the best in the country."
