Phelps Health Tip:
Reducing Sodium & Increasing Potassium
Lead Sponsor Phelps Hospital Northwell Health shares the following: "Health experts have emphasized the significance of reducing sodium and increasing potassium levels in the US diet. Sodium intake can be lowered by avoiding processed foods, and by eating more fresh produce. Potassium occurs naturally in items like fresh beets and beet greens, Swiss chard, kohlrabi, mushrooms, radishes, spinach and squash".

THIS SATURDAY:
BUY TWO -- DONATE ONE
This Saturday, September 21 the Market will have its second Hillside Donation Day of 2017. Highlighting the generous, weekly donations our farmers make to help eradicate food insecurity in Westchester (9000 pounds of fresh food so far this year), this event provides shoppers the opportunity to "buy an extra item of produce" so they can make donations of their own. Representatives will be on hand from the Pleasantville Community Garden (their volunteers collect vendor donations every week) and from Hillside Food Outreach (including Kathy Purdy, the Executive Director and Founder of this Pleasantville-based charity which provides meals for thousands of Westchester residents each year). This weekend please stop by and add your donation to this special cause.
