Former Pleasantville Pastor Passes Away in Ohio

The Rev. Arthur Joseph Payne, O.P. died at Mohun Health Care Center of the Dominican Sisters of Peace in Columbus, Ohio, on July 24th.

Father Joe, as he was known in Pleasantville, was an active member of the Pleasantville Chamber of Commerce.

He was assigned to in Pleasantville in 1994 and appointed Superior of the Dominican community and Pastor of the parish in 2001, stepping aside after three years because of declining health.

The Dominican Friars will receive Father Joe's body at 7 p.m. today, July 27, at Holy Innocents Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 28, followed by interment in the Dominican Plot in All Souls Cemetery, Pleasantville.
