Generations Come Together in Briarcliff for Valentine's Day
Student government invited local senior citizens to an afternoon tea

Valentine’s Day came early at Briarcliff High School, thanks to the efforts of Student Government.
“We wanted to have a new and interesting opportunity for students to open up about themselves,” said Student Government Co-President Olivia Segal. “Having the opportunity to speak with wiser members of the community is a cool thing.”

On Feb. 3, members of the BHS Student Government organized a Valentine’s Day tea and hosted more than 30 local senior citizens through the Village of Briarcliff Manor Recreation Department.
The afternoon included lively conversation, refreshments provided by the students and entertainment from the talented student body – ranging from short dramatic acts to singing and dancing.

“The Student Government is all about helping the community,” said Co-President Samantha Martocci. “Valentine’s Day offered a good opportunity to learn about the seniors.”
Visitor Bridget DeCourcey said the afternoon was a “great idea.”
“The food was lovely and the presentation was beautiful,” she said of the festive occasion. “The students could not have been more hospitable.”
