Get In, Get Food, Get Home

Pleasantville Farmers Market is open Saturday, 8:30am – 1:00pm

This week think of ways to get the foods you need while helping us ensure the marketplace is not too crowded. We must ensure shoppers can socially distance themselves the recommended 6' while visiting the Market.

  • Select just one member of your family as the "designated shopper" to send to the Market.
  • If arriving as a couple bring enough reusable bags so that you can split up shopping duties.
  • Please do not use the Market as a social of family outing.
  • The marketplace will again have only one entrance, at the south end, and a queue will be used to admit shoppers. Be prepared to wait on the sidewalk in a queue, spaced 6' from your neighbors in line.

Our vendors have pre-packed items, some have developed pre-order systems, some have brought on more staff, all to help customer service be as efficient as possible.

Absolutely avoid the Market if you are sick. Especially so if you exhibit any symptoms of the COVID-19 virus (temperature of 100° or above, a cough, a sore throat, shortness of breath).

The Market cannot guarantee that it will stay open without a gap in service during this health crisis. Our status is week to week. Many farmers and food artisans are feeling vulnerable, just like our shoppers. As long as we're able to be open, the Market offers a place for us to connect, be it brief and purposeful and from 6' away. This redeeming act of displays that we're a community, working together, supporting each other, celebrating one of the most vital of rituals: creating food, creating meals, creating health.

The Market has implemented safety protocols to protect people and food from potential transmission of germs. Our vendors have been incredible partners in this effort. We thank our shoppers for their patience as we've adjusted to meet these challenges. If farmers markets have shown anything, it's that they're nimble, always ready to adapt to the needs of their communities.

Phelps Health Tip:
Lead Sponsor Phelps Hospital Northwell Health shares the following: "Distressed? Acknowledge that the feelings you are experiencing, such as fear, anger, or disappointment. are natural and universal to feel in the midst of a catastrophic event such as this epidemic. Share some of those feelings with family and friends. Things that frighten and anger us tend to get smaller when exposed to air and light. Reach out to friends and family members on the phone or online to check in with them to see how they’re doing. Maintaining points of contact during uncertain times can help everyone".

Aged two years, they cut a few wheels open this month and it tastes amazing! The result is a nutty, medium-sharp cheddar with a hoppy aroma and taste. They have half pound wedges Saturday at $15/wedge and you can try a taste at their table.

IN THE COMMUNITY

Pleasantville Community Blood Drive
There is a huge blood shortage going on as all community drives have been cancelled until further notice (one at the High School on April 21 has been cancelled). Donations are down by 75%. Blood is still urgently needed during the crisis. Donors can now help in a safe way and during a time that works for them by going to the Elmsford Donor Center by appointment. The Blood Center has increased the capacity at its Donor Centers by expanding their hours of operation and adding additional days. They also provide for more physical space between donors, have reduced the number of donors per hour, and take several additional sanitary measures and precautions regarding both donors and staff. In order to control donor flow, appointments must be made and walk-ins will be not accepted until further notice. For questions regarding eligibility (travel, medications, last donation, etc), call 800-688-0900. To schedule an appointment to donate at Elmsford Donor Center, 525 Executive Blvd: https://donate.nybc.org/donor/schedules/center/20
