Greg Ball's Spending Has Top Billing in New York Times Article

The Times described what people continuing the Moreland Commission's work have uncovered.

Some of the ways New York State Sen. Greg Ball (R-C-I-Patterson) spent his campaign funds included trips to Acapulco and Cancun and entry fees for the Tough Mudder extreme obstacle race, says the New York Times.

The newspaper used Ball’s spending as its top example of the kind of conduct turned up by the Moreland Commission and the groups that have continued its work since Gov. Andrew Cuomo shut it down suddenly in the spring.

“Their work has entailed examining the shutdown while picking up where the commission had left off, including looking at Mr. Ball’s spending, which he maintains was legitimate, some of it a repayment of personal loans he had made to his campaign,” the Times wrote.

Ball announced in May that he would not run for a third term in the state Senate. Yorktown Councilman Terrence Murphy, whom Ball endorsed, won the seat in November. The 40th New York State Senate District includes eastern Putnam County, much of northern Westchester County, and part of Dutchess County.

Ball signed up for the 2012 Tough Mudder to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project, according to his Aug. 9 2012 press release.
