Hey, March Is Here!

Pleasantville Farmers Market is open Saturday, 8:30am – 1:00pm

March is a month of transitions, in season (spring begins on 3/20), in outlook (often related to weather), and in the Pleasantville Farmers Market preparing to move outside (betting on good weather).

This Saturday shoppers can continue to tip their hat at winter while entering the cozy warmth of the Pleasantville Middle School, knowing hot drinks, warm company, and fresh foods await. March is the final month for our Indoor Market before we move to Memorial Plaza on April 6.

Despite the opportunity to soon enjoy shopping outdoors, it's our indoor-growing farmers who will continue to show their season-extending strength for some time. While fields remain dormant, and frost a hazard, the winter-growing methods that ensured abundant, fresh items at the Indoor Market will continue to provide for our early outdoor weeks as well.

Please keep arriving each Saturday to support our regional farms and the food artisans that source them. Your purchases are particularly appreciated at this time of year. And delicious home cooked meals are good for morale as we wait out these last few weeks until spring.

THANKS PHELPS

Our Lead Sponsor Phelps Hospital Northwell Health, which sponsors all our Health & Sustainability programs, will provide FREE reusable shopping bags this Saturday in support of the Village's Pleasantville Carryout Bag Ordinance. Now in effect, the Ordinance encourages the use of reusable shopping bags and requires fees on the use of new single-use shopping bags.

Please note that at the Managers Table there's a "Bag Exchange" bin where shoppers donate clean, reusable bags they're no longer using, so other shoppers can pick one up for FREE. The Market also has convenient, sturdy shopping bags, made from 100% recycled plastic, available for sale each week.

Phelps Health Tip

Lead Sponsor Phelps Hospital Northwell Health shares the following: "Colon cancer is the third most common cancer diagnosed in women and men in the United States. This Saturday Phelps will have Dr. Thomas Weber, Dr. Peter Stein and Tawanna St. Lewis, Genetic Counselor at the Market to raise awareness for Colorectal Cancer Month, and to share dietary and other prevention steps you can take to lower one's risk".
