Local food pantry readies for Thanksgiving

The INTERFAITH EMERGENCY FOOD PANTRY, located in Thornwood and serving the surrounding villages and hamlets, needs help.

List of Thanksgiving Needs
List of Thanksgiving Needs (Angela Usobiaga)

So far, households representing more than 300 people have sought help to provide a THANKSGIVING DINNER for their families. The food pantry is working on securing a turkey/chicken/ham and seasonal fresh produce for each household, however, there are simply not enough supplies on the shelves to assure that each can enjoy a complete traditional meal. During this time of “Thanks,” this is the goal.

HOW TO HELP? Supply from 1 TO 5 PARTS OF THE MEAL with items that are currently lacking. You can choose just one part of the meal or everything…it’s up to you and your personal resources. SEE LIST BELOW.

MARK EACH PAPER OR PLASTIC BAG WITH IT’S CORRESPONDING NUMBER so that the volunteers can easily identify the number and make sure it’s included in the family meal.

Because families may lack adequate cooking facilities, seasonings, spices, etc., all items are easy to prepare and shelf-stable. They are in sizes and shapes that are manageable to pack, and include no glass containers.
