Man Accused of Fabricating Robbery Story Hospitalized

The following information is from the Pleasantville Justice Court. It does not indicate a conviction.

Wasim Ali, the man accused of falsely reporting an armed robbery at Pleasant Auto Service on September 4, did not appear in court as scheduled last week.

According to the court, Ali was involved in an accident and he remains hospitalized.

Pleasantville Police Department records indicate the accident occurred at the intersection of Bedford and Pleasantville Roads—right outside Pleasant Auto Service. Ali was reportedly struck by a vehicle on the morning of Friday, Oct. 12.

Ali told Patch and police he was robbed at knifepoint at the gas station by two men who took more than $1,000 from him—an account police have said is entirely false.

During his last court appearance, Ali's case was adjourned. On Tuesday, it was scheduled for control on October 30. It is not yet known whether Ali will be able to appear on that date.
