Market Forecast: Grilling Weather!
Pleasantville Farmers Market is open Saturday, 8:30am - 1:00pm

Clean up the grill, sweep off the patio, find where the skewers are. Pleasantville has enough weather data now to know it's going to be a beautiful, warm, August weekend. So pick up the phone and invite some friends over-- there's plenty to share from the bountiful summer harvest of vegetables, fruits and meats rolling into town Saturday at the Pleasantville Farmers Market.
The Market has a diverse selection of meats for summer grilling, including squid (delicious when marinated in olive oil and herbs), and swordfish or tuna steaks. Cowberry Crossing Farm has Certified Organic hamburger patties and ground lamb for lamb burgers. Kiernan Farm has grass-fed beef items including hamburger or steaks, as well as terrific pork items, and a number of interesting sausages (including hot dogs). Campanelli's Poultry Farm and Yellow Bell Farm have great poultry items, and Hudson Valley Duck Farm has fresh duck breast and their links of either Italian style or Rillette duck sausage, which are really special when grilled. And vegetables taste great on the grill too including corn, peppers, onions, summer squash and eggplants. If you get thirsty while grilling, enjoy some wine from Whitecliff Vineyard - they're in this Saturday at the Market.
The Market also has great programming Saturday. For our Kids Event the music group Joannas 'n Bananas will present TWO performances (starting at 9:30am, and at 10:30am). The local Axial Theater will visit to highlight their upcoming events (8:30am - 12:30pm). And the Music Series will present Austin Carrothers and Marc Moss (10:00am - 12:00pm) -- both top notch local farmers affiliated with Yellow Bell Farm, as well as amazing professional musicians. Stop by to enjoy hearing Folk, Americana and Irish tunes, as well as some original songs as well.
