Mavis Tire Seeks to Start from Scratch After Fire
Electrical fire caused partial collapse of Marble Avenue building.
After a fire ripped through Pleasantville's in the late hours of Friday, Sept. 2, the , damaging cars on the property and an adjacent business.
The fire to be caused by an electrical issue.
Village Building Inspector Michael Testa said there appeared to be "an electrical malfunction in one of the compressor units in the rear of the property," at Monday's board of trustees meeting.

The fire, he said, made the building unstable, which led to the collapse.
"The tractor trailer melted in half in back," he added, stating it was used for storage.

After appearing in front of the village's planning commission, the owners of Mavis are seeking time with the zoning board of appeals to "try to fast track this," said Testa.
If approved, the building will be completely demolished and rebuilt with eight garage bays, versus the two in the former building. This would eliminate outdoor storage, Testa explained.
"It would require knocking the entire building down and rebuilding it," he said.
, the adjacent business also singed by the fire, has since "been cleaned up spic-and-span," said Testa.
