Missing 13-Year-Old Found Safe After Massive Search in Briarcliff Manor
She had run away from a group home in the community.
BRIARCLIFF MANOR, NY — A 13-year-old girl who ran away from a group home was found safe Tuesday night. The search for the girl, who has special needs, was spearheaded by the Briarcliff police and fire departments, who called for mutual aid from their counterparts in nearby communities.
There were 12 search teams deployed from heavily wooded areas to the Hudson River shoreline. After a five-hour search, she was found by Ossining police.
Among the departments helping, according to Westchester County Police: Briarcliff Manor PD, Bedford PD, Croton-on-Hudson PD, Mount Pleasant PD, New Castle PD, North Castle PD, Ossining PD, Peekskill PD, Pleasantville PD, Sleepy Hollow PD, Yorktown PD, MTA PD, DEP PD, New York State Police; plus Briarcliff Manor FD, Briarcliff Manor Ambulance Corps, Archville FD, Hawthorne FD and mutual aid stand-by by Ossining FD and Millwood FD.
