Motivation-Part 2: Be The Best You Can Be
Where and how do we get motivated? What do we need to do to "be the best we can be?"
What does it take to “be the best you can be”?
Time, Talent, Practice, Desire, Passion...all come into play. But can you think of someone who was “naturally talented” at something like music, art, sports, math, science...and then they didn't follow through to develop or use their skill? We all know people like that and maybe each of us is guilty of this too.
So what determines if a Serena Williams or Michael Phelps or Mark Zuckerberg becomes successful at tennis, swimming, or social media?
MOTIVATION
In my UMAC Blog; “Motivation - Part 1” I asked, “What is motivation, why is it important, and how can you make it work for you and be successful?” Motivation is what drives us to be successful at whatever we choose to do. We choose to think, feel and do something. And when we are emotionally charged, we make the time to work or practice. And over time we become the best we can be.
Did you notice I didn't say to be “the world’s best”? I implied to be the best YOU can be.
Is there a magic pill for that? No, but there are methods out there to help you. And as a professional Martial Artist and Taekwondo Master, I have seen many of my students rise to the occasion, being successful in Taekwondo and in other areas of their life too. Black Belt students are successful athletes, scholars, musicians, and workers.
One major benefit achieved through the practice of the Martial Arts is attaining the personal power and mindset to accomplish any goals you have. This power is infinite and leads to your success. This goal-setting ability is the “thinking part” of being successful as you visualize the end result. But it is the feelings you get when you think about the results that you want..this is the fuel driving your emotions...this is the driving force.
Motivation - Emotion = Standstill
Conversely, Motivation + Emotion = Action
So if you want to successfully reach your goals or you would like to start your children off on a solid foundation, then maybe learning Taekwondo would be a good starting point.
Please consider visiting my school to explore UMAC Summer Camp, After-School Program, and UMAC Family Program to see if learning Taekwondo is right for your and your family.
