NY Sen. David Carlucci Opens Ossining Office
A reception May 8 drew residents, advocates, politicians, well-wishers and anti-abortion protesters.

American Legion Post Commander Frank Faiella was among more than 60 local residents at the Open House hosted by state Sen. David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) to christen his new Ossining office May 8.
"We're here to support the senator," said Faiella, who last week hosted Carlucci and a host of other politicians announcing the expansion of a mentoring program for vets with post-traumatic stress disorder. "We also want the senator to support veterans."
Carlucci's District 38 was redrawn after the 2010 Census to include Ossining (with part of Briarcliff Manor)—the only section east of the Hudson River.

"I always wanted to have an office here, it was just about making it a reality," Carlucci said before cutting the ceremonial blue ribbon with unexpectedly blunt scissors.
Anti-abortion protesters stood on the sidewalk outside the new office, propped a sign up against a car and attended the reception with sheafs of brochures.

Attendee John Mark had two items on his agenda. "Number 1, Senator Carlucci has stated that he is in favor of the Reproductive Health Act and I'm concerned about that," Marks said. Second, he said, New Castle residents like himself who live in the east end of the Ossining school district pay disproportionate property taxes. The state had provided tax relief for two years and Marks would like to see that return.
Ossining town resident Arthur Brady was another of those on hand to meet the lawmaker.
"I wanted to meet the person who represents us," he said.
The new District 38 office is at 2 Church St. To learn more about the senator's activities, read his blog on Patch.
